CHRISTIANS NAMES - CULTURAL IDENTITY OF THE ORTHODOX SERBS IN NOVI PAZAR
Project goal:
In 2014, Christian (family) name was entered on the UNESCO Representative List of the
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which represents the first entry of cultural assets from
the Republic of Serbia on this list. Since cultural heritage can and should be viewed in terms of a
type of non-renewable resource, the areas of its protection become extremely important in the
modern world.
That is why permanent care is necessary in the field of study, research, use and preservation of intangible cultural heritage in order to raise public awareness of such a part of heritage.
The goals of the project Christians names – cultural identity of the Orthodox Serbs in Novi Pazar includes
activities that will improve the presence of the crucifixion in public space and awareness of its
great cultural and historical significance, as well as its exceptional importance for the
preservation of Serbian cultural identity in the territory of Novi Pazar.
The goals of the project are the popularization and affirmation of the Christian name through a video presentation of cultural heritage. Application of interactive modern ways of heritage presentation (such as video presentation) will contribute to increasing knowledge and awareness
about cultural heritage and the need to further research such contents.
