The Center Citizens' Association in Novi Pazar strongly condemns the act of vandalism of the monastery of St. Great Martyr Varvara in Novi Pazar.

This is not the first time that a monastery building has been targeted by vandals, who with such sick intentions are trying to destroy the existence of Serbian cultural heritage.

The monastery, which was founded in the 15th century, which was the seat of the Raška metropolitans and which was declared a cultural asset by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, is clearly not an object of respect for one, hopefully a small number of residents of Novi Pazar.

On this occasion, not only was an attack made on cultural property and church property, but an attack was also made on the state and good neighborly relations in Novi Pazar. Therefore, general condemnation by all institutions is necessary, as well as appropriate punishment for the perpetrators.

We demand that the competent authorities react urgently, arrest the perpetrators, bring them to justice and punish them adequately.
